Argyll Episcopal Academy was a girls’ high school* in North Hollywood, California created in 1963 to be a “sister school” to Campbell Hall. In 1983 it was absorbed into the co-ed Campbell Hall campus.
The high school that was Argyll Academy may be gone, but it will never be forgotten by those of us who walked her grounds. As an alumna who remembers Argyll very fondly, I hope this site will help keep the spirit of our old school alive.

*I received the following note back in 2009 from Rev. Pat Hendrickson — I had no idea! This just shows us how quickly the facts of our history may be lost.
I was a student at the original “Argyle Episcopal Academy” from Sept. 1957 – June 1959.
During those years both the Jr. High classes of Campbell Hall and the High School existed on the upper part of the campus in very rundown buildings. A decision was made to close the highschool, and move the Jr. High to classrooms down below in order to tear down the existing buildings and build a new facility. There was no room for the High School students and we had to find new schools to attend.
Several of the boys went to Harvard, some of the girls to Corvalis, and about a dozen attended Montclair College Prep. That was my choice for my senior year. The was one graduating class from the original co-ed high school constisting of 4 girls. Claire Brady, Marsha Bryant, Liz Oster and Leslie___.
There is a small group of us that have stayed in touch all these years, including Claire and Liz and 7 of us from the 11th and 10th grades. I am writing because it is disappointing to see that this part of the history of the school is still being ignored. The Rev. David Campbell (twin of the then suffragan bishop) was our headmaster and Ms Mildred Hawks was our principal.
I visited the school the week following my ordination and we did find copies of the yearbooks from these years in the library. I was featured as an alumni in CLIPS but since that time no mention that we were ever a part of the history of the school.
It would mean a lot to all of us to see this rectified. Those of us who have stayed in touch agree that those years were formational to who we are today to say nothing of some of the best memories of our youth.
blessings and peace,
Pat+
