Note from an alumna

I received this note from an alumna who let me post it here.

I am Susan W. from the class of 1978. I loved most of the teachers at Argyll and have magnificent, fond memories of most of them. At the last reunion, I apologized to Miss Macatee for taking her for granted. She cared about us so much!!! Mrs. Behlmer told me once that the Chanters trip to Hawaii almost killed her. And I thought we were such good girls. We WERE good girls. What a place to be from. It has made a difference in every aspect of my life.

I ended up at Argyll for a couple of reasons. First, I wasn’t very challenged in public school and started asking my parents to send me to boarding school – a military academy, whatever – I didn’t care as long as it was an adventure. My mom looked into several LOCAL private schools (she probably knew I had the potential to kill a teacher if they had to be responsible for me full-time — see Mrs. Behlmer, above). Then, I did stage crew for Damn Yankees at Pierce College and found out that a guy I had a crush on went to Harvard School.

When my mom showed me Argyll, that definitely gave it extra points – along with the fact we didn’t have to take PE (I regret that one). Little did I know that the Harvard guys didn’t even know Argyll existed…sigh. But by the time I figured that out, I was in love with the place. I could be whoever I wanted to be there — try out so many things – in a supportive environment where I knew everyone’s name and they knew me. What a place to be from!!!

THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES!!!!
